- Description
- The US Army Research Lab (ARL) intends to purchase on a brand name or equal basis a cold field emission scanning electron microscope system. The brand name product is manufactured by Nissei Sangyo America, Ltd, Hitachi Scientific Instruments, 755 Ravendale Drive, Mountain View, CA 94043-5219, model S-4700-2 with Large 5 Axis Computerized Specimen Stage (100x50) and 6" Specimen Exchange Airlock includes: DBC Modification, PCI Interface, PCI Image Management System, ExB Detecting System, 19" CRT, with the following options: two (2) 19" monitors (Part #NSA-CM715), YAG Backscattered Electron Detecting Device (Part # 537-9973), Critical Dimension Measurement Unit (Part # 537-9804), RS-232C communication interface (Part # 537-9807), Extended Monitor Table Top (Part # 537-6152), "Hi-Mouse" Software for External PC Integration (Part # 537-9803), Turbomolecular Pump Modification for S-4700 (Part # EMO-2308), High resolution Photo CRT and Polaroid Filmback (Part # Photo-CRT), Sys 43 Infrared Chamberscope System External Display, includes 6" FTF solid state flat panel monitor (Part # 43-6TFT), Pegasus 2300: Integrated EDS/OIM/DELPHI Advanced -- includes Phoenix EDS system with imaging, OIM advanced software, SIT camera system, video card, customized camera SEM interface, integration to the Hitachi Quartz PCI Database management system (Part # PV2300/60), PCI/EDAX Version 5.1 -- Requires EDAX x-ray analyzer with option PV8062/44, networked to the Hitachi SEM's computer (Part # 50E-PC1151), PC1 intranet image server version 5.1 -- provides web-based job submission and image searching to an existing PC1 workgroup database via any computer browser. Included: PC1 intranet image server version 5.1 (Part # 50E-PC1250) Provides installation and configuration for acquisition systems or accessories where installation in not included in the purchase. Included: installation by Nissei Sangyo engineer. Requires acquisition system or accessory which does not include installation in purchase (Part # 50E-INS100), Emitech High resolution turbomolecular coater (Part # K-150), Emitech rotary pump for the K-575X (Part # Edwards-3), Emitech Film Thickness Monitor for the K-757 coater (Part # Emitech-150), Installation and training for the Emitech coater (Part # Emitech 1T). The minimum salient characteristics are: 1) Produces the SEI resolution of 1.5nm or better at 15kV at the instrument's specified analytical working distance and 2.5 nm or better at 1kV on optimum samples as large as 6 inches in diameter, 2) the operator may access the through-the-lens secondary electron detector (upper detector) throughout the entire working distance range of the instrument (e.g., as far as 35 mm working distance), 3) when changing an electron emitter, only the emitter itself is replaced and there is no need of adjusting the properly conditioned and functional gun chamber and associated parts, 4) the system utilize an integrated site-wide (e.g., intranet and/or extranet) image management system that facilitates the capture, process, and database archival of images and associated data. The database is fully searchable and accessible via any standard web based user interface (e.g., web browser, 5) the system permits continuously adjustable emission current between 1 and 20 uA through a GUI and adjusts the resulting probe current independent to the spot size automatically so that high current applications, such as EDS and BSE, may be performed without altering the size of the objective aperture and/or excitation of the condenser lens field. Interested parties are advised that there will be no paper copies of the solicitation issued. The solicitation will be made available on-line at http://w3.arl.army.mil/contracts/opport.htm, and solicitation amendments, if any, will be found at the same location. Offerors are responsible for checking the website to ensure they have the latest information available concerning this acquisition. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code for this acquisition is 334516 with a size standard of 500 employees. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by the Agency. No telephone requests will be honored.
