Description

The Department of Energy, Albuquerque Operations Office, intends to award a sole source contract IAW FAR 6.302-1 to the Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center located at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, 801 Leroy Pl., Socorro, NM to provide a testing site including site operations for conducting open burn/open detonation research in support of the DOE-AL Laboratory Programs Division's Work for Others Project for the US Army's Defense Ammunitions Center entitled, "Enhancing Techniques for Open Burn/Open Detonation of Conventional Munitions." The objective of the project is to improve demilitarization operations involving open burn/open detonation procedures of conventional munitions.an open detonation/burn test site for the purposes of tracking plumes and identifying effluents. This notice is to comply with the requirements of FAR 5.203(b). This is neither a request for proposals or solicitation for offers. No solicitation will be issued as a result of this notice. A market survey was completed in April 2001 for the availability of such a test site that could meet this requirement including the ability to handle large quantities of conventional munitions, remoteness, and the close proximity to DOE's laboratories in New Mexico. The NAICS Code for this procurement is 541380. The size standard is $5M.
