- Description
- The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is the repository for the permanently valuable records of the Federal Government. Under the authority of 44 U.S.C. 2307 the National Archives Trust Fund Board conducts the NARA microfilm publication program that provides the general public with access to records of high interest through sales of microfilm copies of archival records. On Monday, April 1, 2002, NARA will release for sale microfilm copies of the 1930 United States Census, amounting to 2,668 rolls (35mm) of population census schedules and 1,650 rolls (16mm) for the index (called the ?Soundex?). Because of the anticipated high volume of sales and NARA's preservation priorities, NARA wishes to contract with a vendor to duplicate and ship rolls of Census microfilm as orders are received. NARA will begin accepting large "pre-release" orders for the 1930 Census for vendor pre-release duplication and packaging on October 1, 2001. The vendor may commence production as soon as NARA passes on the orders, i.e. shortly after October 1, 2001. Shipping of any pre-release orders will begin on April 1, 2002. Smaller orders will only be accepted after the April 1, 2002 release date. It is anticipated that the heaviest volume of work will be in the six months preceding release and the year following release. The contract awarded as a result of this RFP will be a firm fixed price contract for a base period of one (1) year and four (4) option periods of one year. Award will be made to that offer providing the best overall value to the Government. The requirement is a 100% small business set-aside. All responsible small business sources may submit a proposal that will be considered by NARA. Copies of the RFP may be obtained at this site on or about July 15, 2001 or by writing to the National Archives and Records Administration, Acquisition Services Division (NAA), Room 3360, 8601 Adelphi Road, College Park, Maryland, 20740-6001, ATTN: Mr. Harold Williams, Fax 301-713-6910) or through e-mail (Please add 1930 Census in the subject line). Telephone requests will not be honored. *****
