Description
The Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Patuxent River, MD in partnership with the U.S. Air Force Human Systems Program Office, Brooks Air Force Base, TX. is seeking test samples and information from potential sources for an improved Aviation One-Man Life Raft for Naval and Air Force aircrewmen. This request is for SAMPLES and INFORMATION for the purpose of establishing a Qualified Products List (QPL). The products on this list shall identify approved items for a possible future competitive procurement by the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia. Submitted rafts should meet the requirements of the Draft One-Man Performance Specification MIL-PRF-81542B, utilize heat-seal technology, be reduced volume packed, and have a zero-leak inflation system. The Performance Specification is available on the PMA-202 Aircrew Systems Team website at pma202.navair.navy.mil. Companies responding to this request should submit 11 samples in accordance with the MIL-PRF-81542B and the JSPLR Preliminary Qualification Test Plan Sheet. The Test Plan Sheet is also available on the PMA-202 website. Some raft types may be returned to the manufacturer during qualification testing for repack at manufacturer expense. Information submitted shall include: raft total life cycle and repack schedule (commercial repack), and any specific raft folding or packing procedures for the non-vacuum packed configuration (Type IV). All submissions shall be sent to Mr. Matt Marshman, NAWCAD Code 251326 at the above address. Responses should be submitted by 15 Jan 2002 and reference this synopsis number on both the packages as well as on all enclosed documents. Information on raft stowage/placement in Navy Seat Pans may be obtained through the NAVAIR Manual for Seat Survival Kits NA 13-1-6.3-1,-1 at the PMA 202 website. Information on Air Force Seat Survival kits may be obtained by contacting Mr. Matt Marshman . Please address all other technical questions to Mr. Matt Marshman at the above POC information. Proprietary information MUST be marked as such, on a page-by-page basis. This announcement is NOT a Request For Proposal nor does the Government intend to pay for any information / items submitted in response to this synopsis. 9 of the samples will be returned after testing while the data and 2 samples (Types I & IV) will be retained by NAWCAD and the Air Force. This synopsis does not commit the Government to award a contract.
