Description

NASA/JSC plans to issue a Request for Offer (RFO) for the continued engineering development of the Space Shuttle Flight Control System, the Attitude Determination and Control System for the International Space Station (ISS), and the X-38 Flight Control System. Under the existing contract, Honeywell supports four key areas including its proprietary Multi-Application Control Honeywell (MACH) system. This system is the primary flight control system for all X-38 test vehicles including the V-201 entry vehicle. This system was developed by the contractor and represents many years of design and development efforts. Other proprietary Flight Control applications that provide uniquely engineering capabilities are included. NASA/JSC intends to issue a follow-on contract to Honeywell, Inc. under FAR Part 6.302-1 Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. See Note 22. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B".
