Description
This purpose of this Amendment 2 is to (1) provide answers to questions received, and (2) extend RFQ due date to July 3, 2001. The revised cutoff date to receive questions is June 29, 2001. The on-line RFQ has been revised to reflect change in closing date from June 29, 2001 to July 3, 2001. QUESTION 1. What is the frequency range that you will be attempting to obtain? ANSWER 1. Frequency ranges are in the Statement Of Work listed under SHAKER and POWER AMPLIFIER. QUESTION 2. Are you looking for what is commonly referred to as an Electro Dynamic Shaker? ANSWER 2. Yes, this is the only shaker that will meet the Government requirement. The Contractor shall provide shaker to meet the required specifications in the Statement of Work. QUESTION 3. Will the existing A249 exciter have its own cooling unit? ANSWER 3. Yes. QUESTION 4. Will the existing A249 armature drive cables be reused? ANSWER 4. Yes. (Ref. Question 13) QUESTION 5. How far will the new amplifier be from the new exciter? ANSWER 5. See RFQ Para. (g) item 3 under "03. ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS TO QUOTES -- RFQS". QUESTION 6. It is anticipated that the switch unit will be located next to the new amplifier. Will the existing A249 cables reach where the new amplifier will be located? ANSWER 6. The switching unit is located 40 feet away from the new amplifier. The existing A249 cables are long enough to reach the switching unit. This will reduce the long, messy drive and field cables from shaker to amplifier. The Contractor shall provide a remote switching button to activate these connections for the A249 or the new shaker. (Ref. Question 13) QUESTION 7. What length cable is required for the remote? ANSWER 7. See RFQ Para. (g) item 3 under "03. ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS TO QUOTES -- RFQS". QUESTION 8. Please define what the customer must do to provide "Installation" of the system. Does this mean unloading the truck and moving the new system into lab? ANSWER 8. The Contractor shall provide all the dimensions, exact footprint for the space requirement, and size of circuit breaker for electrical requirement. The Contractor shall provide on-site installation and hook up all the connections including wires, cables, and hoses. NASA will unload from the truck and place the new system in the designated location. NASA will connect the electrical wires up to the power terminal strips in the new equipment and will provide water supply for the cooling system and shop air. QUESTION 9. Installing electrical conduit and connecting 3-phase power? ANSWER 9. NASA will install a circuit breaker and connect to your terminal strip on your equipment. QUESTION 10. Installing water pipe and connecting cooling water to heat exchanger? ANSWER 10. NASA will install water supply line to fill the cooling system. All other inter-connections between the equipment that the Contractor supplies shall be the Contractor's responsibility. QUESTION 11. Connecting shop air to shaker? ANSWER 11. NASA has shop air supply tap within 20 feet of the shaker. NASA will use air hose for the connections to the shaker. QUESTION 12. Removal of existing components? ANSWER 12. NASA will remove all existing components. (Ref. Question 8) QUESTION 13. Providing new cables for the A249 shaker? ANSWER 13. A249 has its own cables which is long enough to reach the same spot of our switching cabinet. The new switching system (Contractor provided) will be installed in the same location. (Ref. Questions 4, 6) QUESTION 14. Providing startup and training? ANSWER 14. Yes, the Contractor shall provide startup and training after the installation. QUESTION 15. Is a remote control panel required for the power amplifier? ANSWER 15. Yes, it is required in the main control room with all other monitoring functions. QUESTION 16. To whom do I address the technical documents and compliance information. Can it be delivered by email or paper (express mail)? ANSWER 16. Direct all documents and compliance information to the Contract Specialist at NASA Johnson Space Center, Attn: BH13/Mary Thomas, 2101 NASA Rd 1, Bldg 13, Room 207, Houston, TX 77058. Please deliver by express mail.
