Description

The US Army Research Laboratory, Weapons and Materials Division, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21005, intends to award on a sole-source basis to CERCOM, Vista, CA, They are the only manufacturer that can supply ballistic grade PAD processed SiC-N ceramic tiles (Sizes vary, Total qty of 40 ea) This is an on-going effort in developing ballistic grade PAD processed SiC-N ceramic tiles. These tiles are uniquely processed to provide extremely hard tiles with excellent 4-point bend test strength and the mechanical properties of these SiC-N tiles have shown to enhance armor system ballistic performance utilizing patented CERCOM processing technology. The Army Research Laboratory has found no other source that can provide expertise in control of the tile fabrication processing parameters (temperature cycle, pressure cycle, furnace atmoshpere and ceramic chemistry).
