Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate on a sole source basis to Thales Computer, 1203 New Hope Road, Raleigh, NC 27610 under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) for the following: CLIN 0001: 2 Each VMPC6c-D-400-256-F32, CLIN 0002: 2 Each Serial Cable P/N CABSER3, CLIN 0003: 2 Each PMC Carrier Board Option for VMPC6a, P/N ICPMC-6, CLIN 0004: 1 Each VxWorks BSP-VMPC6c Software, CLIN 0005: 1 Each BSP Support Maintenance, CLIN 0006: 2 Each Hardware Maintenance P/N EXTGSA. The Intelligent Systems Division (ISD) is involved in a DOD autonomous vehicle program called DEMO III. In this program NIST is providing technical support to General Dynamics Robotics Systems (GDRS) group in the development of vehicle control algorithms and software. GDRS has purchased several of these dual processor boards to be used to control their experimental unmanned vehicle. In order for ISD to perform our role of the project, NIST need an identical system for developing and testing control of algorithms and code. Thales is the only known source that can provide these boards. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. All quotations received by July 9, 2001, will be considered by the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The anticipated award date of the contract is on or around July 9, 2001. The Government intends to acquire commercial items using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 3:00 p.m. local time on July 9, 2001. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency by June 15, 2001. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The anticipated award date of the contract is on or around June15, 2001. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP).
