Description

The Southern Plains Area for the Agricultural Research Service, of the U.S. Department of Agriculture intends to issue a follow-on award for 10 additional Weigh-Tronix DS Series Model DS 30x40-10K scales. This is a sole source procurement under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. This notice of intent is not a request for quotations (RFQ) for competition. This is a simplified acquisition. These scales are to be used for weighing lysimeters located at the Soil-Plant-Environment Research (SPER) facility at the USDA, ARS, Conservation and Production Research Laboratory in Bushland, Texas., and should be identical to the scales already in use at the SPER facility and the Bushland grass evapotranspiration reference lysimeter (currently 34 in all). Load cells used at Bushland, and exact scales are in use by ARS in Fresno, California, and by DOE at Richland, Washington. Continued use of this scale would insure that the compatibility and quality of the data collected from the SPER facility would be comparable to other data collected at Bushland.
