Description

A Sources Sought Synopsis was issued on June 12, 2001 (incorrectly transmitted as June 12, 2000), for a modular propulsion plant shipset for use in a 27 ft Army Bridge Erection Boat (BEB). This modification to sources sought reference number DTCG40-01-I-42031 is hereby issued to answer questions from prospective offerors and to clarify the quantities required, as follows: Q: Could you provide clarification/definition of the electrical system? Which type of system is required? Is it negatively grounded or isolated grounded? A: The desired electrical system will have an isolated ground. Q: Are dielectric drives allowed in this solicitation? A: A diesel electric propulsion system is not desired; the size/weight of this type of power plant would undoubtedly exceed design parameters, since the vessel is only 27 feet in length. Moreover, the Sources Sought synopsis posted on the CBD's EPS specifies a Cummins 6BT 5.9-M diesel engine or equal. Q: Does the government have a CAD drawing package for the existing boat(s)? A: The government does not have a CAD drawing package for the existing boats. The Bridge Erection Boat is available for viewing at the U. S. Coast Guard YARD, Curtis Bay, Baltimore, MD, by appointment only. The prototype quantities are: 6 boats in the base period; 4 boats in the option period. All further questions will be addressed in connection with the solicitation when it is issued.*****
