PREPARED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FORMAT IN SUBPART 12.6, AS SUPPLEMENTED WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION INCLUDED IN THIS NOTICE. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT CONSTITUTES THE ONLY SOLICITATION; BIDS ARE BEING REQUESTED AND A WRITTEN SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE ISSUED. This solicitation modification is issued as Amendment #001 to Request for Proposal No. 2001-N-04001 posted on June 19, 2001. Based on a question received regarding the table size required for mounting the instrumented handle, the following clarification to the requirements/specification is issued: The space for installing the instrumented handle requires a cubic space about 6*6*6 Cubic Inches. A space greater than 8*8*8 Cubic Inches is not desired because it may make it difficult for a human subject to put his hand-arm system at the required posture. It may also significantly increase the mass of the mounting table and make the system difficult to work at a high frequency. The vendor may chose the actual shape of the mounting table, which may depend on the actual design of the whole test system. At this point, the vendors are only required to submit a conceptual design of the system for the offer. The successful vendor will work closely with NIOSH engineers to design the details of the handle mounting table. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged and in full force and effect.
