Description
The Carderock Division Naval Surface Warfare Center has a requirement for a Ethernet Switch. The Switch shall conform to IEEE 1386 (Draft 2.4) standard single PMC card dimensions. The Switch shall have four 100BaseFX multimode LC fiber optic ports on the front panel and four 10/100Mbps auto-negotiating ports routed to the J4 connector. The electrical pin-outs shall be in accordance with Appendix A. In addition to the 8 ports the Switch shall have one on board NIC that is connected to the switch at 100Mbps full duplex. The NIC shall connect to the host computer via PCI interface. The Switch shall have at the Minimum 512kbytes of high speed SRAM. The Switch shall receive power from the PMC connectors and consume no more than a total of 6.5 watts. The switch shall function to all specifications in a temperture range of 35 degree F to 125 degree F when operating. The Switch shall be capable of withstanding ambient air temperatures in the range of -40 degree F to +125 degree F when not operating. The Switch shall comply with International Electro-technical Commission standards IEC 801-2 level 3, IEC 801-3 level 2, IEC 801-4 level 2 for electro-magnetic emissions. The SSCB shall comply with International Electro-technical Commission standards IEC 801-2 level 3 for electro magnetic susceptibility. The Switch shall operate at relative humidity of 10% to 90% non-condensing. The Switch shall be capable of operating at pressures between 24-25 inches Hg. Ambient pressures between of 10-30 PSI shall not damage the SSCB when not operating. The Switch shall be compatible with PCI REV. 2.1, IEEE 1386 (PMC), and IEEE 802.3 100Base TX/10Base T for the ports routed to the J4 connector. The Switch shall be compatible IEEE 802.3 100BaseFX for the front ports. The Switch shall have auto address learning and aging and have at lease 1k MAC address table. The Switch shall forward incoming packets only to the port with the destination address. The Switch shall support full duplex operations on all ports. The Switch shall have wire speed in both directions simultaneously and layer 2 switching on all ports. The Switch shall provide at lease a 100 Mbps link to another switch or hub on all ports. Each ports shall be individually configured by setting parameters in a non-Volatile Serial ROM (i.e. port speed and duplex. The Switch shall be supplied with NIC drivers for SOLARIS 2.7 & 2.8 (32-bit kernel or an optional 64 -bit Solaris) on SPARC processor architecture (i.e.. Thermis USP Iii-1 V/2P SBC. The deliverable shall include all documentation necessary to operate and maintain the hardware. This documentation shall include at a minimum the follwoing: detailed configuration and installation information, and operating instructing and precautions.
