Description
This acquisition is the second phase of the two-step acquisition process. Phase I was for pre-qualification of contractors. That was accomplished under solicitation number DACW31-01-R-0011 (Construction and/or Renovation to Barnard Elementary School, Miner Elementary School and Randle Highlands Elementary School for the District of Columbia Public Schools, Washington DC). Under the two-step acquisition method bids will only be accepted from the pre-qualified contractors. Interested parties are responsible for doing their own marketing. Rockville, MD 20852 RANDLE HIGHLANDS ES PHASE II: Project consists of renovation of the existing 1911 7,300 square foot multi-story building, demolition of existing 1969 45,000 square foot multi-story Randle Highlands Elementary School located at 1650 30 Street, SE Washington, D.C. and construction of a new 69,800 square foot multi-story elementary school, including gymnasium. The new facility will have a capacity for 520 students and will consist of 25 academic classrooms, administrative support space, cafeteria, multi-use facility, music/art rooms, extensive information technology, self contained HVAC system and site improvements (landscaping, facility/visitor parking, and bus pick up and drop off areas) for 4.0 acre site. The new school will be a steel frame structure, with masonry exterior walls. The exterior will be mainly brick veneer and glass, with areas of pre-cast concrete, metal panels, and other materials for aesthetics. The construction will be performed in two (2) phases: Phase I will consist of construction of new foundations and erection of structural steel. (PHASE I is CURRENTLY UNDER CONTRACT, THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR IS MANHATTAN CONSTRUCTION COMPANY). This action will be for Phases II. A brief description follows: Phase II -- will consist of construction of new school building envelope, finishing out all interior spaces, installing all utility systems and HVAC system. Phase II will also consist of abatement and demolition the existing 45,000 square foot building, renovation of the 1911 7,300 square foot building, construction of the new gymnasium 10,700 square foot facility, and site development. Estimated cost of construction for Phase II is between $ 10,000,000 and $20,000,000. *****
