Description

The U.S. Army Communications Electronic Command (CECOM) intends a sole source negotiation contract to extend contract DAAB07-96-D-G018 ordering period from 9 September 2001 through 9 December 2002 to procure five lithium batteries of the high performance battery family. This is a restricted acquisition under the authority 10 USC 2304 (1) and FAR 6.302-1, One Responsible Source. A non-competitive negotiation is proposed from Hawker Eternacell Inc (HEI); subsequently acquired by SAFT America, Valdese, North Carolina. A sole source award to SAFT is required to ensure that adequate domestic production capabilities are available to meet the peacetime and deployment readiness needs of the military until a competitive award is in place.
