- 10 ORDERS TOTALING 95 CANS 8040-01-477-3383 UI: CN ADHESIVE : DESCRIPTION In accordance with Military Specification MIL-A-3316C dated October 20, 1987 and Amendment 2 dated August 23, 1990. QPL-3316-74 dated November 4, 1998 qualification or later letter of qualification from the specification preparing activity required. Class 2: for attaching fibrous glass insulation to metal surfaces Grade A: pigmented white Size: The product shall be furnished in 5 gallon quantities in plastic 5 gallon shipping pails of the type normally used with this product except that IMDG conforming pails shall be used if contents contain hazardous materials. There shall be no interaction chemically or physically with the contents so as to damage the pails or alter the strength, quality, or purity of the contents. Each pail shall be provided with a handle of the type used in accordance with normal commercial practice. The pails shall have removable, plastic heads fitted with a leak-tight seal. The minimum thickness of pail sidewalls, bottom, and cover shall be 90 mils. The pails shall, as a minimum, meet the applicable requirements of the National Motor Freight Classification, Uniform Freight Classification, and the Department of Transportation regulations. Shelf life code: 5 (18 months) Maximum age on delivery: 3 months ITEM MARKING Each item shall be marked with the following: (1) lot or batch number (2) dates of manufacture and reinspection (3) manufacturer's name and part number (4) instructions for use, thinning, mixing, shaking, etc. (5) instructions for storage, i.e. do not freeze, requires refrigeration, etc. MARKING All unit, intermediate, transport packages and unit loads shall be marked and bar coded for delivery to civilian activities in accordance with FED-STD-123G, dated June 6, 1997, or marked and bar coded for delivery to military activities in accordance with MIL-STD-129N, dated 15 May 1997, as applicable. PALLETIZATION Pallet Sizes: Unless otherwise specified, the pallets shall be 48" X 40" or 40" X 48" in length and width. Exceptions such as 48" X 48" will be used only with the concurrence of the Office of Distribution Management (FS). Pallet Type Options: Unless otherwise specified, the pallets shall be one of the following two options: 1. PPP-P-1660A, Type I, Type IA, Type II, or Type III. The following designs are acceptable: Style 2 and 7, Class B or C, Grade 2, Sizes 40" x 48", 48" x 40", 4 way (block post) or partial 4 way entry (stinger), non-reversible. 2. ASME MH1.8M-1996, Wood Pallets, An American National Standard. Class 1 and 2, Category 2, Type 3, Style 2, Bottom Deck 1, Sizes 40" x 48" and 48" x 40" Pallet Load Size: The load plus the pallet shall have a maximum height of 53 inches and shall not exceed 2500 pounds in weight. Exceptions to this requirement shall have the concurrence of the Office of Distribution Management. Pallet Load Configuration: The containers or items shall be placed in a suitable pattern to form a stable and balanced load. Then vertical, horizontal, or filler reinforcement shall be added as necessary to provide the strength necessary to support three additional palletized loads. Stacking Strength: The pallet plus the load shall be capable of supporting three additional like loads without any product damage and without the load or the pallet collapsing. Palletized Load Stacking Test: The palletized load as presented for shipment shall be tested for stackability. The test load shall be placed on a rigid surface with three additional loads stacked on top for 24 hours. The tester has the option of simulating the three additional loads with a like pallet and weight equaling three like loads. Example: If the pallet load weighs 1000 pounds then 3000 pounds on a like pallet, shall be stacked on the test load for 24 hours. Test personnel shall be responsible to test in compliance with National and local safety regulations. Testing need not be repeated as long as the palletized load design and materials do not change. Partial Palletized Loads: Less than one-half pallet loads do not require testing. Shall not be used for stacking, unless load is balanced on pallet.
