The Library of Congress Police Force is a federal law enforcement agency charged with protecting the Library's priceless collections and creating a safe and secure environment for Library staff and visitors by maintaining law and order. The organization is made up of a diverse team of law enforcement professionals. Due to attrition caused by a high number of police officers who are eligible to retire or have retired, there is a need to promote police officers to the various levels in our organization. Specifically, Lieutenants, Sergeants, Detectives, and Technicians. In order to achieve our goals, it is critical to develop an effective and fair promotional process to ensure that the best qualified candidate is selected and full strength at all levels is maintained. The Library has a requirement to develop promotional examinations. The Statement of Work will be available on or about July 5, 2001 at www.loc.gov/contracts.
