Description
This synopsis serves as Amendment 0002 to combined synopsis/solicitation N00178-00-Q-1036 (Submission No. 50N815) which appeared in the Commerce Business Daily (CBD) on 4 June 2001. This amendment is issued to provide clarifications in response to questions submitted by potential offerors, revise the specifications, and to extend the closing date. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS AS FOLLOWS: Question 1: Can you provide some information on the tripod that is intended to be used so we can identify the outline and mounting? Answer: The Government will use a tripod manufactured by Quick Set to mount the collimator, Model Name: Hercules. The mounting plate atop this tripod is the standard plate for the Hercules series model modified by the government with one-quarter inch holes and five-sixteenth inch holes for mounting. Question 2: Can you please clarify the image quality requirement? Answer: Using the formula for diffraction limit (Theta 1.22* wavelength/diameter of exit aperture), the minimum angular size, theta, at a spec wavelength of 4 microns shall be 32 microradians or less. Question 3: Can we quote a 40 inch EFL collimator system? Answer: The Government will not prequalify what can be quoted. However, the Government will evaluate quotes for acceptability and award based on the specifications contained in the combined synopsis/solicitation N00178-00-Q-1036 through Amendment 0002. Question 4: What type of targets does the Government need, (i.e., 4-bar, circular)? Answer: The Government requires circular targets. This is indicated by specification (10) of the original synopsis which listed the minimum target aperture size by diameter, thus circular. THE FOLLOWING CHANGES ARE MADE IN THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION: 1. Add the following as number (15) in the specifications for the original combined synopsis/solicitation as follows: (15) Image Quality -- Using the formula for diffraction limit (Theta 1.22* wavelength/diameter of exit aperture), the minimum angular size, theta, at a spec wavelength of 4 microns shall be 32 microradians or less. 2. The closing date is extended from 22 June 2001, 2 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) to 29 June 2001, 2 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST). 3. The anticipated award date for this order is changed from 29 June 2001 to 9 July 2001. 4. There are no other changes in the terms or conditions of this combined synopsis/solicitation.
