Description

The U. S. Army, TACOM currently has a requirement for the procurement of test and production AT4CS Anti-armor Weapon Systems. The AT4CS is an improved version of the AT4 Anti-armor Weapon System currently fielded to U. S. Forces. The AT4CS improves the AT4 by providing a capability to fire from confined spaces. The AT4CS is a Saab Bofors Dynamics proprietary design currently in production. A test quantity of 400 AT4CS IM systems with fuze and warhead explosive safety improvements will be purchased under the basic contract for qualification to support type classification. The basic contract will also buy up to 2000 AT4CS HP off the shelf configuration systems for immediate fielding to satisfy an urgent operational requirement. Options will be exercised to procure up to a total of 20,000 AT4CS IM systems between FY02 and FY05. TACOM- ARDEC intends to satisfy the requirement for the above weapon system through a contract action with SAAB Bofors Dynamics, Karlskoga, Sweden. TACOM-ARDEC contemplates this contract action based on Other Than Full and Open Competition based on the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c) (1), as implemented by FAR 6.302-1 (a)(2)(ii), Only One Responsible Source, as the agency s minimum needs can only be satisfied by the unique supplies available from SAAB Bofors Dynamics.
