Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate with MTS Systems Corporation of Oak Ridge, TN on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR Part 13.106-1(b), Soliciting from a single source, for the purchase of accessories for a Depth Sensing Indentation System. The accessory items are: 1. A High-load option for Nano Indenter XP indentation system; 2: An AccuTip Cube corner diamond tip; 3. A Spherical diamond tip with radius of 500nm; 4: = A Spherical diamond tip with tip radius of 2000nm; 5. A Test Works 4 Analyst Software Package Site License; 6: NanoIndenter Calibration System. The MTS Depth Sensing Indentation System was recently purchased under a competitive procurement (NIST Order Number SB1341-01-N-1408). The project group that needs this instrumentation also requires the high-load option and the diamond tips that are designed specifically for the MTS Depth Sensing Indentation System. Because of the unique and specialized nature and design of this instrumentation, only the above-mentioned MTS items will satisfy the requirements of the NIST Building and Fire Research Lab. Some of the items must be installed during the manufacturing of the MTS Depth Sensing Indentation System. The anticipated delivery time for these items is 45 days after receipt of order and the delivery shall be FOB Destination Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Government anticipates awarding a firm-fixed price purchase order. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotes by June 26, 2001. This notice of intent is not a request = for competitive quotes. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) package is not available. The NAICS code for this requirement is 334519 with a size standard of 500 employees. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
