Description
The purpose of this sources sought synopsis is to establish a technically qualified source list to be used to procure a limited number of combined DoD common access card (CAC)/biometric products for preliminary testing. Vendors must be capable of providing DoD with a combined CAC and biometric reader Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) products. Items sought should be mature products, turnkey systems with no modifications or development required. Products should be compliant with DOD Common Access Card Release 1.0 Reader Specification. Sources should indicate corporate intent to comply with the BioAPI standard. This sources sought synopsis is NOT linked to any larger DoD wide buys for CAC readers or integrated biometrics. Rather, it is to assist the DoD Biometrics Management Office (BMO) to better understand of the current COTS state of the art, to develop requirements, to develop testing criteria, to effectively support PKI and CAC programs, and to select products deemed to be feasible for integration into military computer and physical access systems. Interested sources should include a brief description of the integrated CAC reader and biometric device. Identify compatible operating systems, hardware/software requirements, individual costs and general costs per 1,000 and 5,000 units. If the integrated sensor is part of a larger system, information on the entire system is also requested. Sources are encouraged to submit the required data early for possible consideration of their products for procurement and test & evaluation. Respondents are welcome to provide information in hardcopy form, electronic format, or both. The response from sources should be limited to three typed pages, currently available product literature and price information. Suspense date for submissions is 6 July 2001. Hardcopy via U.S. Mail to: Deputy Director, DoD Biometrics Fusion Center (Attn: P. Howe), 1400 Aviation Way, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
