Description
DESC: The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst is seeking to procure decals to be used for the marking of intermodal shipping containers. Our serial number will consist of decals that are four-inch high black letters on a white background. In our application four of the locations will be a vertical orientation and two of the locations will be a horizontal orientation. The first four characters of every eleven-digit serial number will be the same. For this procurement the first four characters will be the letters "NMAU". The eleven digit serial number will consist of one decal of the first four characters and individual decals for the remaining seven digits. We require 27,300 of the four character "NMAU" decals in a vertical orientation and 15,900 of the four character "NMAU" decals in a horizontal orientation. The remaining seven digits of the serial number would require 279,300 of the individual decals consisting of various quantities of different numbers from 0 to 9. The decals will be applied a painted aluminum surface. The decals shall be suitable for extended exposure to the sun, rain and marine environment that commercial intermodal shipping containers are typically exposed too. We desire a source of supply that currently produces the individual digits as a commercial item for use on intermodal shipping containers. The backing of the decals shall be scored for easy removal. Potential sources of supply provide the following technical information about their products: specification sheet, service life in this application, material, thickness, environmental exposure ratings (temperature extremes, marine environment exposure, sun exposure etc.), any specifications the decals may conform too. Information about other customers using the product in similar applications is desired. .The information provided should demonstrate that the decals being offered are suitable for the marking of intermodal shipping containers. In addition any special application requirements such as temperature / humidity shall be provided. The decals shall be packaged in quantities of 100 in accordance with best commercial practices. Delivery shall be within 12 weeks after receipt of order. The decals shall be shipped in the quantities indicated to San Diego, CA and Norfolk, VA. The solicitation will appear on the NAVAIR homepage located at http://www.navair.navy.mil. Select "Business". Then "Doing Business with us" and Open Solicitation." No solicitations will be mailed and no hard copies of solicitations will be made available. Responsible sources are advised to monitor the web site listed above for RFP release and RFP amendments, as necessary. The estimated release of the RFP is 2 July 2001. Phone, fax or e-mail requests for RFPs will not be accepted. The Government anticipates a firm fixed-price award as a result of this solicitation. This solicitation is being issued as full and open competition. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency.
