The work is located at the Manning Canyon Mill site, an abandoned gold milling facility located in the Oquirrh Mountains of Utah County, Utah, approximately 40 miles south of Salt Lake City, Utah. The site is accessible from State Highway 73 and is about three miles south of Cedar Fort, Utah. The channels around the repository are designed to pass the 500 year storm event. Sub-grade of the repository will be prepared for placement of the repository fill and the repository stabilization berm will be built. Top soiling, grading, and seeding of cleaned areas will take place. The second year, Optional Line Item 1, will continue with site management for the prevention of contaminated materials transport. Excavation, hauling, and placing of tailing materials will continue to the repository. Placing topsoil, grading, and seeding clean, disturbed areas will also continue. The third year, Optional Line Item 2, will continue site management methods for control of contaminated sediments. Excavation and hauling of contaminated materials will continue to the repository.
