- Description
- The purpose of this notice is to extend the response date for receipt of bids from 12 Jun 2001 to 19 Jun 2001, 2:00 pm Central Daylight Savings Time. In addition the following questions and answers are provided regarding this solicitation. Question: Review of the RFP suggest that the Telco architecture presented is incomplete and a connectivity bridge is required to take the OC-48 to the DS0 level. We conclude that one architectural means of take the DISA OC 48s to the DSO level, as requested in the solicitation, would require an OC 48 ,a SLC 2000 (HDT), MDF frames and blocks, cabling (100 ft runs), front-ended through an LGX(s) panel, with cable racking support, fiber jumpers etc. A less expensive but more limited architecture would require an AnyMedia installation instead of the HDT. In any event, the architecture stipulated is incomplete in the view of our transportation and lay-out engineers. Answer: The OC48 SONET Ring in place terminates in a Dual Bay Lucent FT2000 multiplexer. It is provisioned to provide DS3, STS or OC-3 hand off to DCTF. A Lucent SLC2000 was suggested as it would be able to accept any of the provided hand offs. The requirements are to provide demuxing capability from a DS3, STS or OC-3 demarc to provide T-1 and DS-0 end user service. The FT2000 has Lucent provided battery backup. A "standard" battery backup system should be included. DCTF provides a/c power via our own power distribution system to include generator back-up. The requested equipment is to be co-located with the existing demarc. Fiber jumpers and feeds are in place for all connectivity to the FT2000 multiplexer. A frame with a fiber distribution panel is in place to be used to feed the requested equipment. Cabling requirements consist of feeding the new RJ21 type blocks with the output from the "SLC2000". This is a distance of approx 25 feet. All other information remains unchanged. POC: Lora Timmermann Benhoff 618-229-9499, benhof1l@scott.disa.mil, fax: 618-229-9508
