Description

A -- The Edgewood Branch of the Robert Morris Acquisition Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground intends to issue a solicitation on the basis of full and open competition. The objective of the effort is to fabricate, package and ship 500 M43A1 Notched Lenses and to document the manufacturing methods and technology utilized. The Notched Lens for the M43A1 Apache Aviator NBC Protective Mask is a lens that has specific interface requirements with the Apache Helicopter heads-up display and fire control system. The lens provides airflow over the aviator's eyes to prevent fogging and has stringent chemical warfare agent resistant requirements. Contractors will be required to have experience and expertise in the skills, techniques, equipment and knowledge required to manufacture these lens along with experience in applying and formulating hard-coating compounds for polycarbonate substrate optical lens. The Government anticipates the award of a firm fixed price contract with a six month period of performance. Antitipated release date of the solicitation is June 26, 2001.
