Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), on = behalf of the Process Measurements Division of NIST, plans to issue an = order on a sole source basis to Hitachi Instruments, Inc., 3100 N. = First Street, San Jose, CA. 95134. The purpose and objective of this = requirement is to provide full service preventative maintenance = services for a Hitachi Scanning Electron Microscope and associated = equipment manufactured by Hitachi Instruments, Inc. As the = manufacturer of the equipment, having specially trained personnel at = their plant, only Hitachi has the specialized parts and supplies needed = to correctly maintain these highly specialized instruments. Without = access to proprietary materials and information concerning correct = instrumentation operation, vendors other than Hitachi Instruments would = be required to obtain parts on a non-priority basis. This notice of = intent is not a request for competitive proposals. No solicitation = package will be issued for this requirement. The period of performance = for this requirement is for one year beginning October 1, 2001 through = September 30, 2002, with 2 additional one-year option periods. The = anticipated award date of the order is on or about 10 days from the = date of this notice. =20
