- Description
- The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) is conducting a market survey of information technology-based products that could be used to determine food stamp eligibility. FNS's goal is to establish a prescreening tool for determining food stamp program eligibility and benefit level by allowing any user with access to FNS web site (e.g., at home, school, library, community agency, or social services agency) to input household information, and receive a response as to whether or not the household is likely to be eligible to participate in the Food Stamp Program. If determined potentially eligible by the prescreening tool, it is expected that the user be advised of the approximate amount of food stamp benefits the household may be eligible to receive. It is intended that individuals from All States for a generic assessment of potential eligibility will use this tool. FNS is specifically soliciting information on products that fall into the following categories: (1) A web-based prescreening tool for determining food stamp eligibility and benefit level determination; (2) Prescreening tools currently used in other industries; and (3) Solutions that may dictate entirely alternative or complementary approaches to prescreening tools for benefit determination. The intent of this market survey is to collect prescreening tools product information in an effort to stimulate collaborative discussion in support of future FNS and FNS-sponsored initiatives, and as a method to monitor emerging technologies and solutions that may benefit FNS's efforts. Universities, other Government agencies, foundations, associations, and other non-traditional vendor organizations that possess products or technologies with potential application in this area are encouraged to participate in the survey. No corporate proprietary or otherwise sensitive information should be submitted as all information collected will be subject to public release. FNS will only accept information on products. Information on service offerings will not be considered, however, product information regarding software or other technology products available from vendors only through a service bureau model is acceptable. Product information or corporate materials in excess of the survey response will not be accepted at this time. Survey responses shall include, at a minimum, the following: name and address of organization, name and description of program, target audience, cost, contact data, and web site address.
