Description

The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to use the On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above or it may be accessed at http://procurement.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/EPS/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin= . The information required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ. NASA/JSC plans to acquire Herringbone Gears for the X-38. The following is a list of parts and drawings. 1. SDK51356325-001= (Herringbone Gear) six (6) ea. S/N's 1001-1006 7. SDK51356573-001= (Herringbone Gear) six (6) ea. S/N's 1001-1006 8. SDK51356580-001= (Spur Gear) six (6) ea. S/N's 1013-1018 9. SDK51356581-001= (Spur Gear) eighteen (18) ea. S/N's 1019-1036 10. SDK51356582-003= (Herringbone Gear) six (6) ea. S/N's 1007-1012 1. The herringbone gears are coated with Vitrolube at National Process Industries (909) 676-0343. 2. The tooth cutting must be coordinated with NPI to result in the proper tooth profile after coating. 3. The spur gears require Dicronite Dry Film per DOD-L-85645 (TYPE I). 4. The gear manufacturer is responsible for verifying the tooth profile after either coating. The specifications and drawings are linked at http://ec.msfc.nasa.gov/jsc/EX32429/ FLIGHT HARDWARE VENDOR SHALL PERFORM 100 % DIMENSIONAL INSPECTION AND SUPPLY NASA DATA SHEETS REFLECTING ACTUAL MEASURED VALUES. MILL TEST REPORT SHOWING QUANTITATIVE CHEMICAL ANALYSIS AND MECHANICAL TEST RESULTS ARE REQUIRED ON ALL RAW MATERIAL. RAW MATERIAL SHALL NOT BE RESHAPED, FORGED OR CONVERTED BY ANY PROCESS WITHOUT PRIOR NASA APPROVAL A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE ON WORKMANSHIP AND ALL PROCESSES, (HEAT TREATING, METAL FINISHING, PAINTING, ETC.) IS REQUIRED. ALL FASTENERS AND COMMERCIAL HARDWARE ITEMS REQUIRE MANUFACTURER CERTS. ALL EXTERNALLY THREADED FASTENERS SIZES #8 AND LARGER WILL BE TESTED BY NASA PER JSC 23642. VENDOR SHALL SUPPLY THE MINIMUM SAMPLE SIZE PER LOT SIZE FOR TESTING: LOT 1-100 = 2 PCS, LOT 101-500 = 3 PCS, LOT 501 AND OVER = 5 PCS.WHEN TORQUE VALUES ARE CALLED OUT ON DRAWINGS, SERIAL NUMBERS AND CALIBRATION DATES ON TOOLS USED MUST BE SUPPLIED. NASA DISPOSITION IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO SHIPMENT OF ANY ARTICLE THAT DOES NOT CONFORM TO DRAWINGS Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing to Michael Ballard at michael.d.ballard1@jsc.nasa.gov no later than 6/15/01. It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of amendments (if any).
