- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends = to negotiate with Instron Corporation of Canton, MA on a sole source = basis under the authority of FAR Part 13.106-1(b), Soliciting from a = single source, for the purchase of a Tukon 2100 Hardness Testing = Instrument (Instron Catalog Number 9100-130). The instrument requires = the following Instron components and accessories: 1. Instron XY Manual = 50kg heavy load stage w/digital micrometers (INSTRON?s 9100-130C8); 2. = PC Based VideoFilar (INSTRON?s S8-120); 3. Dual Configuration, 10N = (50gf to 1000gf) and 300N (300gf to 30kfg) Load Cells (INSTRON?s = 9100-130L4); 4. Vickers indenter (INSTRON?s 9100-130F2); 5. Knoop = indenter (INSTRON?s 9100-130F3); 6. 10X Objective for 100X = Magnification (INSTRON?s 9100-130G2); 7. 20X Objective for 200X = Magification (INSTRON?s 9100-130G3); 8. 40X Objective for 400X = Magnification (INSTRON?s 9100-130G4); 9. Specimen Clamping & leveling = device, fits up to 2 3/8 (60mm) diameter sample, mounts on XY stage = (INSTRON?s 9100-248). This is an upgrade from an existing Instron = instrument, the 240 TUKON, which will be traded in upon the purchase of = this TUKON 2100 instrument. In order to maintain system integrity and = continuity of the components and calibrations, this set of items must = be utilized. The Tukon 2100 is the only commercial instrument available = having a load capacity spanning the microhardness range (>1 kgf) up to = the heavy-load Vickers range for 30 kgf. It is also the only Vickers/ = Knoop hardness testing instrument which applies forces by load-cell = closed-loop control. The anticipated delivery time for this requirement = is 90 days after receipt of order and the delivery shall be FOB = Destination to Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Government anticipates = awarding a firm-fixed price purchase order. Interested persons may = identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or = submit quotes by June 14, 2001. This notice of intent is not a request = for competitive quotes. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) package is not = available. The NAICS code for this requirement is 334519 with a size = standard of 500 employees. A determination by the Government not to = compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely = within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
