Description
Item 0001: Portable hand-held X-ray spectrometer shall have the following salient features:- Must be capable of determining the concentrations of the alloy characterizing elements in steels (low alloy and tool), stainless steels, brasses, bronzes, Inconels, Monels, copper nickels, Hastelloys, cobalt alloys, and titanium alloys. To cover this wide variety of alloys, the instrument must be capable of analyzing for Fe, Cr, Ni, Mo, Cu, Ti, V, Nb, Pb, Sn, Zn, Ag, Co, W, Mn, Zr, Pd, and Ta. -- To meet these analytical requirements, the instrument must contain three sources: Cd-109, Fe-55, and Am-241. Fe-55 is for Ti and V at concentrations less than 1%. Am-241 is necessary to detect Sn, Ag, and Pd. -- Must provide elemental concentrations in approximately 20 seconds. -- The instrument must be fully portable. To meet this criteria, it must: -- Be a self-contained unit without cable connections to a power supply or separate data processing unit. -- Be powered by a lithium-ion battery pack permitting 10+ hours of operation before requiring a recharge period of two hours maximum. A 110V AC charger shall be included. -- Weigh less than three pounds. -- Have a detector cooling system which does not require liquid nitrogen. To accomplish analyses, the instrument must: -- Self-calibrate upon start up. -- Contain a factory-loaded library of at least 300 common alloys with elemental specifications. -- Be capable of storing at least 500 analyses which may be downloaded through Windows NT 4.0 software. -- Permit the user to modify the library with customer owned standards. This may be accomplished via a pocket PC and associated software attached to the unit. The PC shall have the following capabilities: -- Touch screen data/sample ID entry. -- 200 Mhz or greater processor speed. The instrument must also function under the following conditions: -- Temperature range: 20 to 120 F -- Humidity: 0-95% RH The instrument shall be capable of testing: -- Hot surfaces up to 800 F -- Vibrating components. -- Fillet welds or other hard-to-access locations without interference from adjacent materials. The instrument shall have the following safety features: -- Manual trigger safety switch to prevent inadvertent opening of the shutter. Additionally, the shutter trigger shall be lockable to prevent access by unauthorized personnel. -- Warning light to indicate the shutter is open. -- Carrying case with additional source shielding. The warranty on parts and labor shall be a minimum of 2 years. The manufacturer must provide radiation safety and instrument training. Qty 1 Each.
