- This announcement is a Modification to the original announcement. = Block 17 is hereby replaced in its entirety with the following: The = U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) has a full and open requirement for small size = buoy chain, which will be used for mooring navigational buoys in the = coastal and inland waters of the United States. The open-link chain is = made from low carbon steel and electronically welded. It is to be = manufactured in accordance with USCG specification number 377J dated = October 2000. The specification will be included with the solicitation = package. The chain sizes required are half inch and three quarter inch = in diameter. The half inch chain is furnished in 45 foot and 90 foot = lengths, and the three quarter inch chain is furnished in 90 foot = lengths. The estimated annual chain requirements, including all sizes, = are 3,400 shots. Delivery will be FOB destination to various USCG = locations. Per statute 14 U.S.C. Section 97(a), Coast Guard Buoy = Chain, or substantially all of its components, must be produced or = manufactured in the United States. The USCG anticipates awarding a = requirements type contract for a base year with four (4) one year = option periods. The NAICS code is 332999 and the size standard is 500 = employees. The U.S. Coast Guard intends on issuing an Invitation for = Bid (IFB) solicitation on or about 20 June 2001 at http://www.eps.gov/. = To receive a solicitation, interested businesses may download the IFB = at this web site. Sealed bids will be due thirty (30) days after = issuance of the IFB.
