NSN# 8010-01-211-4815/3 ORDERS/TOTAL QTY: 67/ In accordance with Military Specification MIL-P-24647B, dated April 2, 1991, and Amendment 1, dated August 9, 1994. QPL-24647-5, dated October 26, 1998. Type: I -- Paint system having topcoats of ablative antifouling paints. Class: 1A -- Paint system having copper based toxics in the antifouling topcoats. Paint systems for use on metal substrates, except aluminum alloys. Grade: A -- Volatile organic content (VOC) of the antifouling topcoats shall be a maximum of 3.4 pounds per gallon [lb/gal; 400 grams per liter (g/L)]. Application: 1 -- Paint systems having red color antifouling for underwater hull, with a service life of five year Coat 4, and; Type: I -- Paint system having topcoats of ablative antifouling paints. Class: 3A -- Paint system having antifouling topcoats containing only copper-based toxics for use on rubber. Grade: A -- Volatile organic content (VOC) of the antifouling topcoats shall be a maximum of 3.4 pounds per gallon [lb/gal; 400 grams per liter (g/L)]. Application: 1 -- Paint systems having red color antifouling for underwater hull, with a service life of five year Coats 2 and 3. Devoe ABC-3 AF (RED). QPL qualification required: QPL-24647-4, dated September 16, 1997. An shipping pail containing a minimum of 18.9 Liters (5 gallons) of paint. A bail type handle shall be provided in accordance with normal commercial practice. Maximum age on delivery shall not exceed three months. Date of reinspection shall be 24 months from date of manufacture. ITEM MARKING: In addition to the marking required by MIL-P-24647 paragraphs 5.1.1 and 5.1.2, the following shall be added. 1) Lot or Batch number (2) Dates of manufacture and reinspection (3) Instructions for use, thinning, mixing, shaking, etc. (4) Maximum Volatile Organic (VOC) Content (less water and exempt solvents), in grams per liter and pounds per gallon PACKAGING: The components of each kit shall be packaged in multiple friction closure metal cans in accordance with the supplier's normal commercial practice, provided that there will be no interaction chemically or physically with the contents so as to damage the container or alter the strength, quality, or purity of the contents. The containers shall be closed in a manner that will insure that the contents will not spill or leak from the containers during shipment, handling, storage and redistribution. Components of each individual kit shall be further packed together in kit form that will prevent accidental separation of the components during shipment, handling, storage and redistribution. MARKING: All unit, intermediate, transport packages and unit loads shall be marked for delivery to civilian activities in accordance with the FED-STD-123G, dated June 6, 1997, or marked for delivery to military activities in accordance with MIL-STD-129N, dated 15, May, 1997, as applicable.
