Description

The intent of this contract is to secure services for mechanical precommercial thinning of excess trees and the mastication or shredding of tops of thinned trees and undesireable brush and slash. The work consists of 120 acres and is located on the Truckee Ranger District. From Truckee proceed north on Highway 89N approximately 6 miles to Forest Road 89-34, turn right to access most units. Estimated start work date 08/14/01, contract time 69 days. Estimated solicitation issue date 07/09/01. Contractor furnished equipment shall be of a low ground pressure type that shall not exceed a maximum of 6 psi, machine width maximum shall not exceed 12 feet, shall be equipped with a masticating or mulching head capable of reaching at least 10 feet from center of machine to perform the work. Contractor is permitted salvage rights to precommercial thinned cut trees within the project area provided project work is progressing as scheduled and removal is completed prior to expiration of contract time.
