- The National Park Service in Gettysburg is asking for quotes to purchase a quantity of 6 Artillery Carriages. The exact specifications are listed: Aluminum Replica Model 1861 Artillery Carriages #2 Carriages -- 3 each (for 12 Lb.Napoleon artillery tube) and #1 Carriages -- 3 each (for 3 inch Ordnance artillery tube) All dimensions to be full scale as per U.S. Model 1861 #1 and #2 ordnance carriages. Major cast components to allow for water/condensation drainage. All major components to be castings of 356 Aluminum alloy. Major aluminum castings to be phosphatized prior to priming. Wheels to be solid 356 aluminum castings. Cannon green paint to be custom mixed Sherwin Williams Industrial Maintenance Enamel, ultradeep base, alkyd. Paint formula is on file at Sherwin Williams, Hanover, PA, Tel. 717-632-8310 Weight not to exceed 1,100 lbs. Carriages to be delivered completed with all hardware attached and all painting completed. Delivery date to be within 6 weeks of date of order. The unit price of each carriage must include all shipping charges. NOTE: This notice is for production carriages: no drawings or specifications are to be provided by the National Park Service for patterns or foundrywork.
