- The following courses with descriptions are required for = personnel training. Courses will be provided at location and duration = specified with a class size of 30 individuals. Automated Information Systems Project Management=20 This course is designed to teach management of automated information = system projects in accordance with federal laws, policies, directives, = and regulations. The course must provide examples, case studies or = anecdotal evidence of the application of the various laws, policies, = directives and regulations to projects; and provide students with = methods of recognizing application of the legal concepts to project = management. Emphasis is placed on life cycle management procedures. = Subjects include: pre-project activities, project planning, concepts = development, work-load breakdown structure, project scheduling = techniques and systems, human behavior, time management, configuration = management, delegating, and project control measures. Sessions are = interlaced with case studies, examples and anecdotal evidence of the = application of concepts in order that students can understand and = internalize the principles of AIS Project Management. Course length: 5 days Proposed Locations: Washington DC San Antonio, TX Tinker AFB, OK Management of Communications/Computer Security This course provides an understanding of the current policy, practices = and procedures applicable to communication-computer security. Subjects = include: communications security, computer security, operations = security, emanation security, computer security policy, password = management, computer security in the acquisition life-cycle, safeguard = selection and implementation, automated information systems = certification and accreditation, trusted computer systems penetration, = ethics, regulatory environment, backup capabilities, and contingency = planning. The students should be provided examples, anecdotal evidence = or case studies of good security and bad security practices in order to = compare and contrast methodologies and provide solid understanding of = concepts. Current topics and technology, such as fire-walls, = anti-virus detection, and denial of system attacks; need to be covered = during the course of instruction. Risk analysis, risk assessment, and = risk management are covered as an integral part of this course.=20 Course length: 5 days Proposed Locations: Washington DC San Antonio, TX Scott AFB, IL Offutt AFB, NE Information Assurance This course provides a practical overview of Information Assurance and = is a first course in Computer Security Engineering. Strategic, = operational and tactical information security to support federal, state = and commercial businesses areas are presented as well as their = underlying core technologies. A full range of information protection = topics ranging from access control issues, the establishment of = security objectives and policies, to defining and assessing operational = concepts and architectural capabilities are covered. Specific topics = covered include access control, cryptography, security policy, trusted = computing bases, viruses, authentication, and network security = including firewalls, and secure architectures. Legal issues, risk = management, certification and accreditation are covered in their = supporting roles. Case studies reinforce the lessons learned. Course length: 5 days Proposed Locations: Offutt AFB, NE Gunter Annex, Maxwell AFB, AL Wright-Patterson AFB, OH Managerial Decision Making and Problem Solving This five-day course provides the manager with different approaches to = the decision-making process. An analytical approach to problem solving = includes: identifying and analyzing the problem, setting goals and = objectives, searching for solutions, planning and evaluating. The same = approach is provided for the application of group decision-making and = problem solving processes to real-world or simulated situations. Course = format includes lecture, group discussions, videos, and role-playing. = The course, presented as a workshop, addresses Conceptual Thinking; = Communication & Persuasion; Tenacity; Judgment; Flexibility; = Self-confidence; and Entrepreneurial Achievement competencies. =20 Course length: 5 days Proposed Locations: Washington, DC San Antonio, TX Management of Networking, Protocols, and Standards This course is designed to provide mid-level managers with = communication background to ADP networking, protocols, and standards. = Journeyman-level personnel in systems analyst positions and those on = staff positions who need a basic understanding of ADP networking, = protocols and standards may also attend. Upon completion, participants = will have a good understanding of tasks associated with defining system = network requirements in terms easily understood by the computer staff. = Students will be able to identify the protocols required in the = development of a network system, and the proper standards for = user/management to implement in each of the steps upon completion. = Too, Students will understand the need for system standards and = protocols for a computer system, will be able to evaluate proposed = network system designs, and prepare specifications for making changes = to an existing network system.
