Description
This Request for Proposal (RFP) is for Universal Density (UD) minimum 28 lb/ft3 up-packing bale press to replace a 58-year-old Gullett up-packing, located in Cotton Ginning Research Laboratory in Mesilla Park, New Mexico. The new press will serve both roller and saw-ginning functions by piping the roller-ginned lint approximately 120 feet to a common condenser shared with the saw-ginning facility. Available space in the gin building is limited. A compact press of the single box variety is preferred because of its smaller size and in order to simplify installation and minimize modifications to existing building structure. The existing press pit is 13 feet, 8 inches in diameter and 8 feet, 2 inches deep. In the floor of the press pit there is a rectangular ram pit measuring 19 inches by 5 feet by 7 feet deep. The bale handling capacity, at least 8 bales per hour. The press's hydraulic ram(s) and hydraulic pumping unit(s) shall be capable of developing at least 750,000 pounds of pressing force to adequately produce UD bales ranging in weight up to 500 pounds while meeting the size and density specifications for UD bales established by the National Cotton Council's Bale Packaging Committee. The bale pressing system shall be a complete package (installed) including tramping means, hydraulic ran(s) and cylinders, hydraulic pumping unit, electrical controls and any other equipment required to form a complete ready-to-operate UD bale press. All electrical wiring required to complete the pressing system. Electrical requirements must be within the capacity of the 550KVA, 120/240 V 1 phase, 240V 3 phase delta laboratory generator system.
