Description

As part of its vendor outreach program, the USDA Forest Service is seeking to identify responsible 8(a) and woman-owned businesses interested in contracting with the agency for a wide variety of supplies and services. The Forest Service manages the National Forest System, which comprises 155 National Forests and 19 National Grasslands. In addition the agency provides leadership and assistance to non-Federal landowners, processors of forest products, urban forestry, and international forestry interests, and carries on basic research to bring about better protection from fire insects and diseases; to increase productivity; and to facilitate full use of forest, water, and range resources and more profitable production of timber and forage. Procurement contracts are awarded in the Forest Service in support of Forest management, protection, and utilization. Programs supported include forest research, state and private forestry, cooperative and resource protection, and cooperative renewable resource management and utilization. The Forest Service is a decentralized agency that purchases goods and services at the local level. The names of the OSDBU (Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization) coordinators in each Regional and National Forest office are provided to encourage vendors to market their services or products to the level where most of the procurements take place.
