Description
This Sources Sought Synopsis is hereby modified to include the = following description: The U.S. Coast Guard is considering whether or = not to set aside an acquisition for HUBZone concerns only. The = estimated value of this procurement is between $300,000 and = $1,000,000.00. The small business size standard is less than 1,000 = employees. The acquisition is to drydock and repair the USCGC GENTIAN = (WIX-290), a 180 foot Seagoing Buoy Tender. The homeport of the USCGC = GENTIAN is located at 100 MacArthur Causeway in Miami Beach, Florida = 33139. The performance period is fifty-five (55) calendar days and is = expected to begin on or about 01 October 2001. The scope of the = acquisition is for the overhauling, cleaning, inspecting, and renewing = of various items aboard the USCGC GENTIAN (WIX-290). This work = includes, but is not limited to: welding repairs; remove, overhaul, = and reinstall air ports; clean and inspect diesel fuel and oil tank(s); = clean, inspect, and disinfect potable water tank(s); clean and inspect = sewage and grey water collection and holding tank(s); renew deck = penetrations; renew hatch; renew main propulsion generator pedestal = bearing; remove, inspect, and reinstall propeller shaft; renew shaft = covering; renew stern tube bearing; renew shaft sleeves; remove and = reinstall propeller; perform minor repair and reconditioning of = propeller; preserve the transducer hull ring and renew the depth = indicating transducer; clean shipboard ventilation systems; renew = piping and cooling pumps for refrigeration system; overhaul, renew, and = test valves; inspect and test air receivers; remove, inspect and = reinstall rudder assembly; renew rudder bushing; renew rudder pintle = bushings; disassemble and inspect the bow thruster; inspect, overhaul, = and test weight handling equipment level II; overhaul anchor(s) and = anchor chain(s); overhaul and weight test shipboard davit crane (Allied = Marine Crane ? Model Davit 5000); overhaul and test sea ark (UTL) = davit; preserve chain locker and hawse pipes; preserve and disinfect = potable water tank(s); preserve voids; preserve sewage and grey water = collection and holding tank(s); preserve buoy deck; preserve underwater = body; preserve freeboard; preserve exterior white surfaces; provide = temporary messing; provide temporary berthing; inspect and test relief = valves; ultrasonic testing; routine drydocking; and provide temporary = logistics to cutter for systems that are affected during overhauls such = as protective deck covering material, storage (paint and flammable = stores), power, firemain system, parking, toilets and showers, etc. = All welding and brazing shall be accomplished by trained welders, who = have been certified by the applicable regulatory code performance = qualification procedures. At the present time, the acquisition is = expected to be issued under full and open competition procedures. = However, in accordance with FAR 19.1305, if your firm is HUBZone = certified and intends to submit an offer on this acquisition, please = respond by e-mail to kbrumfiel@mlca.uscg.mil or by fax at (757) = 628-4676. At least two = references are requested, but more are desirable. Your response is = required by May 29, 2001. All of the above must be submitted in = sufficient detail for a decision to be made on a HUBZone set aside = Failure to submit all information requested may result in an = unrestricted acquisition. A decision on whether this will be pursued = as a HUBZone small business set aside or on an unrestricted basis will = be posted in the CBD. =20
