Description

The intent of this contract is to secure services for (1) mechanical mastication of slash, vegetative debris, brush and trees in order to prepare areas for tree planting and (2)thinning of residual stands of conifers and hardwoods. The project is located on the Tahoe National Forest, Nevada City Ranger District. The equipment shall be of a low ground pressure type, weight shall not exceed 16 tons gross, ground pressure shall not exceed a maximum of 6 psi, machine width maximum shall not exceed 10.5 feet. Pivot-operator cab, engine, and attachment arm shall be able to swing 360 degrees and reach attachment arm shall have a minimum reach of 25 feet from center of the machine. Machine shall be equipped with a rotating disk with a variable operating speed. The project consists of 119 acres, contract time 66 days. Estimated start work date 8/20/01. Estimated solicitation issue date 06/18/01.
