Description

The National Cancer Institute(NCI), on behalf of the Laboratory of Functional and Molecular Imaging, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke NINDS), plans on procuring an MRI console system for a 7 Tesla, 90 cm bore magnet that is produced by General Electric Medical Systems Oxford, Inc. GEMSO). In addition to the console, other components for the system are required, including: 1.) Room temperature shims; 2.) Penetration panels to enable connections to pass from the magnet room to the console and electronics room; 3.) Medium and large gradient sets; 4.) RF electronics that include RF receivers and external gating; 5.) RF Probes; 6.) Computer; and 7.) Patient table. In addition, there will be options for additional gradient sets that can be utilzed with the overall system. The required console shall be fully integrated with the magnet to meet certain performance conditions/acceptance conditions that will be outlined in the RFQ package. This procurement is being conducted in accordance with the procedures for acquiring commercial items authorzed in FAR Part 12 and pursuant to the authority in FAR 13.5 to use simplified acquisition procedures for commercial requirements. The Government anticipates that only one, fixed price contract will be awarded under the anticipated Request for Quotations. The North American Industry Classification System code is 334510 and the business size standard is 500 employees. However, this acquisition is not set-aside for small business. The complete RFQ-solicitation package is scheduled for release on approximately June 4, 2001, and offers will be tentatively due about 20 days thereafter.
