- Description
- FOR INFORMATION AND PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY. The Air Armament Center, Combat Support Systems (AAC/WMO) Program Office at Eglin AFB, FL is interested in acquiring information from potential sources on a commercially available 400 Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM) Chemical/Biological Filter Unit to be used to support Air Force expeditionary needs. The filter unit should be designed to operate in a Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC) contaminated environment and shall be compatible with standard military 200-cfm M56A1 Filters. The filter unit should be capable of being decontaminated using standard decontaminates. The filter unit should have an operating temperature range of -25 degrees Fahrenheit to +125 degrees Fahrenheit and 5 percent to 100 percent relative humidity, as well as a storage temperature range of -60 degrees Fahrenheit to 160 degrees Fahrenheit. The fan/blower should be an air-moving device capable of moving 400 cubic feet per minute (cfm) of air at 9 inches water gauge (iwg) pressure head minimum at 50 and 60 Hz. The motor should be a three phase, 208 VAC. The goal is to have a system with a mean time between critical failure no less than 5000 hours. The filter unit should be equipped with a remote On/Off capability. The filter unit should weigh less than 200 pounds (less the standard military 200-cfm M56A1 filters), should be capable of being stacked for transportation, storage, operation, and should be forklift compatible. One person, using common hand tools, should be able to disassemble, change the filter, and reassemble the filter unit. In order to promote an environment of teaming/partnering for a possible new acquisition, the Government is involving industry in the very early development of this potential acquisition. In order to initiate an exchange of information, the Government is requesting that potential sources submit any or both of the following: (1) an up to 10 page paper, with sketches if applicable, that identifies existing solutions for such a filter unit, and (2) product brochures or marketing materials. As part of your response, please address production lead time (i.e. the number of days/weeks for delivery after receipt of order), monthly minimum/maximum production capability, warranty period, availability of a commercial technical manual (CTM), company business size (i.e. small or large), and state if the item is a commercial, commercial off the shelf (COTS), or non-developmental item. Also identify if your company has a Contractor/Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) code and if it has been registered in the Department of Defense (DOD) Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database. Responses to this Market Survey/Request for Information should be mailed to AAC/WMO, 314 W. Choctawhatchee Ave, Suite 104, Attn: Mr. Kevin Miller, Contract Specialist, Eglin AFB FL 32542-5717 to arrive on or before Friday, 25 May 2001. This Market Survey/Request for Information is for planning purposes only, and shall not be construed as a Request For Proposal (RFP) or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire any follow-on acquisitions. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this Market Survey/Request for Information or otherwise pay for the information solicited. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date as a result of this RFI, a pre-solicitation notice will be published in the Commerce Business Daily. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of the submission of responses to this Market Survey/Request for Information and the Government use of this information. The Government reserves the right to reject in whole or in part any industry input as a result of this RFI. The Government recognizes that proprietary data may be part of this effort. If so, potential sources should clearly mark such restricted or proprietary information and present it as an addendum to the non-restricted/non-proprietary information. Thomas Eggers, Program Manager, by telephone at (850) 882-4685 ext. 329, by fax at (850) 882-9381, or by e-mail at thomas.eggers@eglin.af.mil.
