- Description
- This project consists of the construction of a new campus-style facility on a 29-acre parcel of land, to house the new Jacksonville Job Corps Center, located at a site in north Jacksonville near the intersection of I-95 and Golfair Boulevard. The work involves the construction of academic, vocational, dining, medical-dental, recreational, storage/support, and housing facilities. The project has been separated into three (3) construction packages, two bid packages for competitive bidding (Package "A" and "B"). Package "C" is currently being performed including site clearing and preparation, installation of all utilities such as storm water drainage, new water lines, sanitary lines, and electrical service. Also, included is the installation of curb, gutter, some roadway, and site lighting work. Subsequently, Package "C" work will be performed prior to Package "A" and "B" construction which will have simultaneous construction time frames. Contractors WILL BE ALLOWED to BID either Package "A", Package "B" or BOTH. Package "A" shall consist of the construction of two dormitories (26,925 GSF Each) and a physical fitness building (22,137 GSF). The period of performance for completion of Package "A" is 420 days, with substantial completion to be achieved within 360 days, from receipt of Notice to Proceed, if awarded separately. Package "B" shall consist of the construction of five (5) buildings, to provide Administration/Medical Dental (14,772 GSF), Dining (11,183 GSF), Basic Education and Light Vocational Education (20,763 GSF), Vocational Education (20,131 GSF) and Maintenance (7,221 GSF) facilities. Package "B" also includes some finish site work. The period of performance for completion of Package "B" is 420 calendar days, from receipt of notice to proceed, if awarded separately. If only one contract is awarded, the period of performance for completion of the combination is 510 calendar days. The total estimated cost range of construction of each package is, if bid separately, between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. Initial plans and specifications will be available on May 31, 2001, only from the Architect/Engineer firm of Rink Reynolds Diamond Fisher Architects, PA, 1301 Riverplace Boulevard, Suite 500, Jacksonville, Florida 32207. It is emphasized that requests for plans and specifications should be directed to the A/E firm listed above to ensure proper handling of requests. Requests must be in writing and a $200 refundable bid-deposit is required. This bid-deposit must be in the form of a certified check, cashier's check, or money order made payable to the U.S. Department of Labor, and submitted to the A/E firm at the time of request. Requests subject to the stated bid-deposit amount will be limited to the issuance of one complete set per request from any interested party. Plans and specifications will be made available for pick up at the A/E's office, or may be arranged for delivery at an additional charge. Any additional shipping and/or handling charges must be pre-paid and COD requests will not be accepted. Requests must be in writing and will be answered on a first-come, first-serve basis until the initial supply is exhausted. For additional sets requested from interested parties is subject to bid-deposit requirements, or for requests made after the initial actual cost of reproduction of the IFB documents, a non-refundable fee not to exceed the actual cost of reproduction of the IFB documents, plus a shipping charge based on each individual request (if applicable) will be required in order to obtain the IFB documents. Pre-Bid Walk-Thru is scheduled for June 19, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. (local time) at the project site. This will be the only opportunity to review the job site prior to submission of bids. Bid opening is scheduled for July 12, 2001, 1:00 p.m., at the A/E's office. The North American Industry Classification System Code for this acquisition is 233320. "Commercial and Institutional Building Construction". The Small Business Size Standard is $27.5 million. This is a 100% Small Business Set-Aside project.
