- Description
- The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to negotiate and award a contract modification for Tactical Tomahawk SSGN Demonstration and Validation testing. The anticipated modification will contain two phases. Phase one will run from time of award until 30 June 2001. Phase two will run from time of award until 30 October 2001. The phase one effort consists of the compellation of historical data from proprietary Block III and Tactical missiles in order to gather information on the design limitations for an underwater launch. Phase two consists of acquiring the concept drawings to test the feasibility of this underwater launch. NAVAIR intends to award this effort to Raytheon, PO Box 11337, Tucson, AZ 85734-1337. Since 1994, Raytheon has been the sole developer, designer, and manufacturer for the Tactical Tomahawk. Raytheon solely possesses the current configuration and manufacturing data for the Tactical Tomahawk missile, and is the only source capable of meeting the rigorous schedule in the timeframe desired without duplication of costs.
