Description

The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) has a requirement for two High Frequency (over 300 Ghz) Submillimeter Backward Wave Oscillator Heads (BWO) and a Power Supply Assembly. Critical Specifications for BWO: A) UNIT 1: CW operation, continuously tunable over the following frequency range -- minimum frequency 530 GHz or lower; maximum frequency 710 GHz or higher; average power output over frequency range -- 2 mW or greater; magnet system -- permanent magnet, not electromagnet. B) UNIT 2 -- CW operation, continuously tunable over the following frequency range -- minimum frequency 890 GHz or lower; maximum frequency 1110 GHz or higher; average power output over frequency range -- 1 mW or greater; magnet system -- permanent magnet, not electromagnet. C) POWER SUPPLY: output ripple -- 20 mV or below; voltage outputs -- compatible with BWO tubes above, including tube and heater outputs; IEEE488 interface included; analog control voltage included; protection circuitry for BWO tubes included. Delivery for all items is required by November 2002. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (below $100K). All specifications are addressed in this synopsis. Technical merit as well as price will be used to evaluate offers. As technical merit becomes more equal, price becomes a greater factor.
