Description
The Dept. of VA, Austin Automation Center anticipates award of a base contract with four 1-year options for the offsite storage of disaster recovery materials. Currently all tapes are stored in slotted tape racks owned by the government at another facility in the Austin area. Within four (4) days of award the contract, the contractor will be responsible to inventory all tapes and to relocate all tapes, government owned tape racks and tubs to the new storage facility. The contractor will then be responsible for providing space and assistance to convert the majority of the racked tapes to a locked tub system. The converted volume of tapes stored by the contractor will be approximately 10,000 tapes in government provided locked tubs and 1,000 tapes in government provided slotted tape racks. All pricing options are to include holidays. The offsite storage facility shall provide pricing on a "cubic foot" and per slot per month storage basis, rather than a "per item" basis, for magnetic media storage cabinets, rolling storage carts, and shipping containers. The AAC may also require storage of paper material. We require emergency recall between 8am-5pm Monday-Friday with a 4-hour delivery time; emergency recall between 5pm-8am Monday-Friday 4-hour delivery time; and emergency recall 24 hours per day for Saturday and Sunday 4-hour delivery time. Materials stored at the storage facility will include Federal Tax Information (FTI); therefore, the storage facility shall comply with all applicable requirements of the most recent issue of IRS Publication 1075. This document is available for public viewing at ftp://ftp.fedworld.gov/pub/irs-utl/pub1075.pdf. The proposed facility shall be available for the storage of the disaster recovery materials no later than June 15, 2001. Please contact nancy.lawson@mail.va.gov or william.cox@mail.va.gov for a copy of this solicitation.
