Description

The contract work consists of the construction of a cofferdam. The cofferdam is a sheet pile granular filled cellular structure with 10 and 12-foot diameter reinforced concrete drilled shafts in the base. The work is located at the Kentucky Dam in western Kentucky near Grand Rivers, Kentucky. The contractor will have both land and marine based operations for construction. The contractor will be required to provide all plant, labor and materials to construct the cofferdam. Major features of construction include: wet and dry excavation and disposal prior to cell construction; grout curtain installation using balanced stable grout operation procedures; installation of government furnished PS and contractor furnished PZ sheet piles; granular fill of structures; tied back anchor installation for the tie-in wall; drilling 10 and 12 foot diameter shafts in rock; construction of concrete reinforced 10 and 12 foot diameter drilled shafts socketed in rock; placement of both tremie and conventional concrete; installation of instrumentation; installation and operation of cell dewatering system; installation of power and lighting system; and relocation the existing lock raw water intake piping. Bids will be opened on or about 13 July 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Completion time for this project is 810 days. Large business must comply with FAR 52.219-9 regarding the requirement for submission of a subcontracting plan. The subcontracting goals for this District with Small Business are 61.4%; including small disadvantaged business of 9.1% and woman owned small business of 5.0%. This plan is not required with the submittal. The NAICS Code is 234990 with a size standard of $27.5 million dollars. The project bid range is expected to be more than $10,000,000.00 and bonding is required. Affirmative action to insure equal employment opportunity is applicable to the resulting contract.
