Description

This synopsis is being issued in the Commerce Business Daily for any contractor's who are interested in manufacturing the following: DESC: NSN: 1005-01-454-0398, Part Number 12524527, Quantity: 33, Item: Breechblock for the M242 Gun. The breech assembly for the M242 Gun, part is machined from maraging steel bar per MIL-S-46850, grade 250, type three, nitride harden on indicated surfaces. The size is 7.48 inches long x 4.41 inches in diameter with the lug welded per AWS A2.4-76. The source for the material was contacted and if the 4- inch in diameter is purchased, it would be 120 days. If the part is machined from solid stock, approximate 7- inch in diameter, the lead time would be 12 months and a mill run of approximate 2,000 lbs would have to be purchased. First Article Test and Test Report are required for this procurement. Higher level contract QA requirement is ISO 9002. Acceptance Inspection Equipment clause will be incorporated. The proposed solicitation will be firm fixed price. FOB is Destination. Estimated issue date is 13 Apr 2001. This solicitation will be issued electronically in accordance with FAR 4.501, 5.102(a)(7) and 14.205-1(c) therefore hardcopies will not be provided. CAUTION: This solicitation will be issued electronically as will any amendments thereto. Because of this, the Government is under no obligation and is in fact unable to maintain a bidders mailing list. It is therefore incumbent upon any interested parties to periodically access the above Internet address in order to obtain any amendments that may be issued. Failure to obtain any said amendments and to respond to them prior to the date and time set for bid opening/receipt of proposals may render your bid or proposal nonresponsive and result in the rejection of same. This solicitation incorporates a Technical Data Package (TDP) that cannot be provided via the Internet. Vendors who need the TDP in order to prepare a bid or proposal are instructed to request same by submission of an email request to: tacom-ri-tdp@ria.army.mil. Any said requests should contain the following information; CAGE CODE, Company Name, Point of Contact, Street Address, City, State, Zip Code, and Telephone Number. A TDP will be provided by normal mail after the solicitation has been released to the Internet. All or part of this action is an unfounded FY 00 requirement.
