- Description
- The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has a full and open requirement to award a contract entitled , "Hospital Performance Improvement Initiative for the Mississippi River Delta Region." The purpose of this contract is to improve access to quality health care services by providing comprehensive and ongoing assistance to small rural hospitals in the Mississippi River Delta Region. Target area will include a total of 235 counties/parishes in the following eight states: AL, AR, IL, KY, LA, MS, MO and TN. The number of small rural hospitals (less than 50 beds) that would be eligible for assistance is estimated to be around 78. This Hospital Performance Improvement Initiative (HPII) will provide process tools, training, and technical support to help hospitals in the Mississippi River Delta Region build the capacity to improve their financial and operational performance. The goal is to provide rural hospital leadership with affordable access to the same portfolio of expert support services, business tools, and technical advice that is currently available to larger, urban hospitals. This effort will include the development of hospital assessment and performance tools which will then be applied, on site, with hospitals that request assistance. In addition, a hospital-specific strategic plan will be developed to sustain hospital viability. A technical support system will also be provided to assist hospitals in implementation of their strategic plan. The goal is to help these safety net providers improve access to quality health care services in the community by improving their: 1) Financial and operational performance; 2) Quality of clinical care; 3) Staff recruitment and development; 4) Access to information, technology and capital; 5) Community relations and networking.
