- Description
- 17. The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Integrated Services Network (VISN 20), is planning to negotiate a sole source contract with McKesson Automated Healthcare for unit dose packaging of bulk drugs and overwrapping of unit dose packaged drugs at the VISN 20 VA Medical Centers (VAMCs) located in the states of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Alaska. This is to be done in conjunction with the McKesson RxRobot equipment that has been previously purchase by the VA to perform unit dose dispensing of drugs for individual inpatients. It includes furnishing and use of the McKesson Bulk Speed Packager as well as labor but does not include purchase or lease of any equipment. It also includes monitoring and management of off-line inventory levels. The contract period will be for one year with options to renew for a total of five years. This is considered to be a sole source because the McKesson Bulk Speed Packager is the only system that can do unit dose packaging of bulk drugs that is compatible with the McKesson RxRobot already purchased by the VAMCs in VISN 20. Other sources who believe they can supply equipment and services that would meet the needs of the VA must furnish product and service information to this office by 4:30 PM Pacific Standard Time on May 18th, 2001. Information may be mailed or may be faxed to (360) 737-1405. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received by May 18, 2001 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
