- Description
- The U.S. Agency for International Development, Africa Bureau Office Of Sustainable Development, Strategic Analysis Division (AFR/SD/SA) will request Cooperative Agreement proposals from a wide range of organizations to undertake a five year activity (2001-2005) called Strategies and Analyses for Growth and Access (SAGA). The overall objective is to increase African capacity to produce high quality, policy oriented research on key issues related to economic growth and access in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The institution(s) awarded the RFA will have three responsibilities, (1) undertake a collaborative research program working with senior African researchers focused on one or two research areas, (2) administer a small-grants program to place US-based Ph.D. students and faculty in selected African economic research institutes to conduct field research, (3) to provide technical assistance to strengthen the research capabilities of selected African economic research institutes. USAID anticipates only awarding one cooperative agreement estimated to be $6.0 million and cover a period of 5 years with the capability to expand the level of effort based on requests from USAID field missions wishing to participate in the activities described in (1)-(3) above(estimates an additional $2.0 Million). While for-profit firms may submit applications, it is USAID's policy not to award fees/profits under assistance instruments. The preferred method of distribution of USAID procurement information is via the Internet or by request of a solicitation. This CBD notice can be viewed and downloaded using the Agency Web Site. The RFA, once issued, can also be downloaded from the Agency web site. The Worldwide Web address is http://www.info.usaid.gov.
