- Description
- NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the renewal of yearly maintenance on the "Bomem Box" which operates the National Polar-Orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System Airborne Sounder Testbed- Interferometer (NAST-I) Instrument for one year and options for 4 additional one-year periods. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from ABB Bomem, Inc., who is the only responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy Agency requirements. Bomem is the original equipment manufacturer. The Bomem equipment, complete and partial drawings, schematics, and procedures are all proprietary information. Therefore, no other source can provide the required maintenance. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on May 4, 2001. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
